Position Purpose:
Develops the ability to provide document delivery services for Dartmouth College faculty, students, staff, alumni/alumnae, and library guest borrowers.Receives requests electronically or in printed form.Uses various computer programs related to document delivery, e.g. Dartmouth Online LibraryCatalog, Innovative Interfaces, OCLC ILL/ILLiad, WorldCat, Dynix/URSA, RLIN Eureka, ARIEL,or printed bibliographic sources to verify bibliographic information and locate a library or other supplier. Places requests through OCLC, or by email, and monitors their progress throughout the transaction. Upon receipt through ARIEL, facsimile transmission, mail or courier service, organizes material, updates records, prepares material for delivery, and notifies patrons that material is available. Processes returned material and prepares it for return to the lending library or other supplier. Produces borrowing statistics for reports and copyright compliance (CONTU).

1. Excellent computer searching skills
2. Ability to work diplomatically with members of the academic community and the general public in a public service environment.
3. A strong commitment to library public service is essential.
4. Commitment to diversity and to serving the needs of a diverse population.
5. Ability to work independently, set priorities with a high degree of initiative and judgment, and to meet deadlines.
6. Familiarity with computer systems, networks, databases, and scanning equipment, photocopiers, facsimile machines and bar code readers.
7. Reading knowledge of one or more foreign languages helpful.

Special Instructions to Applicants:
Depending on the qualifications and education of the applicant, this position can be filled at the Document Delivery Assistant I (AAT B) or Document Delivery Assistant II (AAT C).Minimum Experience:
One year of library experience.

Minimum Education:
Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
