Adult Reference Services Librarian – Bennington Free Library (Bennington, VT)
The Bennington Free Library is accepting applications for an Adult Reference Services Librarian. The successful candidate will be a highly motivated team player, with good communication, writing and people skills, and a strong community service orientation. This position requires an ability to multi-task and problem solve while working in a busy reference department.
The Adult Reference Services Librarian is responsible for the management of the reference department, including staffing the reference desk, supervision of two part-time reference assistants, selection and management of the Library’s reference collection, organizing all aspects of adult programming, creation of press releases and regular articles publicizing the library’s activities and resources, and providing the director with monthly reference statistics.
In addition, candidates should possess a high level of comfort working with personal computers, including the ability to troubleshoot hardware issues, assist and train patrons in the use of our electronic resources, recommend and install computer hardware and software on library terminals and oversee the library’s network.
Position requires a Masters degree from an accredited library school. Familiarity with MS Office programs, online databases, design of print instructional materials is required. Web design skills desirable.
This is a full time position, some evening and weekend hours required.
