Johnson Public Library seeks a creative, energetic, collaborative Youth Services Librarian. This position creates and promotes weekly programs for infants through teens; assists patrons in the selection and use of library materials and computers; reviews, selects and processes new materials for youth collection; maintains current collection and displays; assists with grant writing; provides outreach programs; and works in circulation.

The successful candidate will possess a desire to instill and inspire a love of reading and creative exploration with our young patrons; have knowledge of children’s literature; be aware of current youth and teen issues; have flexibility, strong organizational skills, and experience implementing programs; and excellent people and computer skills.

Located in the beautiful little city of Vergennes, the Bixby Library is an incorporated non-profit that serves a five-town community of 8,000 residents. Built in 1911, the library is notable as one of the top ten historical buildings in the state of Vermont.  The Bixby’s annual budget is $264,638 with a staff of 3.8 FTE and a team of committed volunteers. With a new strategic plan adopted last year, the Bixby is on an ambitious course to generate excitement, fulfill community needs and increase support from its residents.

The Job & Qualifications

Our new director will recognize the tremendous opportunity to lead the staff in building partnerships, marketing the library, advocating for the Bixby and ensuring that library operations are responsive to community needs. We are looking for an outgoing individual who is action-oriented and ready to make a difference.

A bachelor’s degree is required; a master’s degree in library science from an ALA-accredited program is preferred. Management and supervisory experience required. 3-5 years experience working in a library or non-profit organization preferred. Salary range: $45,000 – $55,000, commensurate with qualifications and skills. Paid holidays and sick time.

Lead Library Assistant: Programming and Interlibrary Loan (Georgia, VT)

The Abbott Library is a busy, dynamic and professional working environment. We are seeking a part-time library aide to work 10-12 hours per week on Monday mornings and Thursday afternoons. Program & Outreach Coordinator (Highgate, VT)

The Highgate Library and Community Center is seeking a Program & Outreach Coordinator to manage and facilitate programming as well as social media and community outreach. Duties would include, but not be limited to, designing and executing after school and Saturday programming, promoting library activities on social media, invigorating the Friends of the Library group, and providing assistance at the circulation desk.
