Children’s Librarian - Kellogg-Hubbard Library (Montpelier, VT)

Summary

As the leader of children’s and young adult services, the Children’s Librarian is responsible for the active promotion of library use, reading and literacy for children of all ages – from pre-school through young adult. This involves both long and short-range planning of programs and collections, the implementation of programs in conjunction with children’s staff, overseeing and coordinating the work of other staff in the department, building the collections, and interacting with the community and the schools. Works as a team with the Library Director to plan and coordinate library services for all ages.

Qualifications

M.L.S. with 3 or more years of public library experience, mainly in children’s services. Management and supervisory experience preferred. Must have a talent for working with children, from toddlers to teens, and a broad knowledge of the literature for these age groups. Strong interpersonal skills essential. Good computer skills are expected.

Compensation : This is a full-time, Level 3 position with benefits.
