Please see to this Mr President. A little research will show how much more effective library programs, which include tehnology and classroom instruction, are than many other well intentioned programs.
Thank You,
Karl Ginalski

Posted on behalf of Carolyn Frisa:

First, thank you Marty for making everyone on the VT Libraries ListServ aware of this important funding source to help our libraries preserve their collections.

As some of you know, I am a paper conservator located in Southern Vermont and am very familiar with the NEH Preservation Assistance Grant.

I worked with the Keene State College's Archives & Special Collections Department to secure grant funding through this program in 2011 to prepare an emergency preparedness and response plan. I also recently worked with the Rockingham Free Public Library to successfully secure grant funding through a similar program through IMLS to rehouse their historical photographs collection.

I would be happy to help anyone with the grant application process as I know this program very well and would love to see more funding granted to libraries within Vermont.

Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions - I am here to help!

Best wishes,

Carolyn Frisa

Hi Vicki -

This post is from 2010, so unfortunately the drive is long over. But, you can always contact one of your local libraries to see if they are collecting for a book sale.

Thanks for your interest!

Greetings,
I am doing long term recovery work with SEVCA and would be interested in learning more about the Librarian Relief Fund. I have been touch with a few individuals who would qualify for your program and I would be curious to know how the application process is coming. If something is already in place I would appreciate knowing that as well.
Thank you very much for your help.

I have 3 boxes of pretty good books. I work in St. Johnsbury and live near Barnet, Vermont. Is there a way that I could get the books to you?

Thanks,
Vicki Giella

I'm happy to share this info on Twitter! I was able to attend an earlier Google Vermont Get Your Business Online event in Burlington, VT. It's hard to over-sell the importance of small business owners attending these seminars, and the value that they provide. VT GYBO touches on building a free small business website, improving the visibility of your business online, and marketing and advertising on the internet. It's great for people who take a DIY approach to this sort of thing. If your small business doesn't currently have a website, don't miss out.

For those with a Twitter account who want to become involved in further discussions before, during, or after these events, I'd recommend searching or Tweeting with the #VermontGetOnline tag.

I am a NELLS participant from the last round and I can't recommend it enough. One thing to consider when thinking about this program is that you may still be eligible outside of the 3-15 years on the job. For instance, if you've worked in libraries for 16 years, but have only started your first directorship within the last couple of years, it would be well worth applying.
