JOB DESCRIPTION:
Information Technology/Interlibrary Loan/Reference Librarian

JOB SUMMARY:
The Information Technology/Interlibrary Loan/Reference Librarian, under the direction of the Library Director and Assistant Director, is responsible for maintaining the library computer network and training staff and patrons in its use. This position also provides interlibrary loan service and maintains the reference collection and assists patrons with reference queries. This position oversees the circulation desk in the absence of the Circulation Librarian.

COMPENSATION:
Hiring salary range $17.50 - $19.50 per hour. Benefits include medical, dental, life &
disability insurances, retirement, paid holidays, vacation, personal and sick time. Tuition reimbursement available by application.

DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

• Assists library patrons before other duties.
• Maintains the computer network, including working with vendors and/or consultants, and arranges outside technical assistance if necessary.
• Provides instruction in the use of library resources and technologies to groups and individuals.
• Orders and installs new technology equipment.
• Resolves technical problems for staff and patrons.
• Maintains the library web site and electronic newsletter.
• Assists Director with technology planning & upgrades.
• Provides staff training in library technology and electronic resources.
• Stays abreast of new technologies and suggests ways of integrating technology with traditional library services.
• Provides reference services to patrons and instructs staff in the use of reference resources including online information.
• Maintains and updates the reference collection.
• Oversees the circulation desk in the absence of the circulation librarian.
• Provides Interlibrary Loan services, including borrowing and lending materials using the VALS (Vermont Automated Library System) database, OCLC and other resources.
• Attends workshops and keeps abreast of changes in library science.
• Assumes additional duties as required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to carry 30 lb. boxes.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
A Bachelor’s degree in the Liberal Arts and an MLS from an ALA accredited library program is preferred, otherwise a Vermont Certificate of Librarianship or in active pursuit thereof. Public library experience preferred. Knowledge of information technology and library automation systems, excellent communication skills, and an ability to work well with people of all ages is required.

OTHER:
This full-time position (40 hours) requires one evening per week.
