Electronic Resources/Serials Access Coordinator – Bailey/Howe Library, University of Vermont (Burlington, VT)

Job Overview:
Perform general and specialized electronic collections maintenance functions in Serials Management to provide access to library materials. Maintain, review, and update records in automated library system. Authenticate, activate and maintain access to e-journals, trouble shoot subscription-related access problems. Assist to gather usage statistics, and with check-in and maintenance of print serials.

Typical Functions:

* Provide for maintenance of and facilitate access to library electronic resources and print serials including e-journals, e-books, databases, and print serials, through specialized modules, management tools, and other software and systems.

* Maintain Libraries’ catalog and web site by activating, maintaining, and updating records for electronic resources. Monitor quality control. Evaluate errors and implement changes in knowledge base.

* Assist with resolving electronic access problems. Correspond with vendors and publishers to resolve access problems. Communicate with other units of the UVM Libraries regarding electronic resources and serials access issues.

* Serve as resource person for UVM Libraries personnel and patrons in interpretation of records and bibliographic information for e-resources/serials.

* Contribute to developing policies and procedures for the management of e-resources/serials.

* Maintain statistical and tracking data on nature of e-access problems and resolution.

* Import usage and other data into local systems from publisher and other sources.

* Assist with check-in and maintenance of print serials.

Minimum Qualifications or equivalent combination of education & experience:

* Bachelor’s degree and two years previous library work experience required.
* Effective organizational and interpersonal communication skills required.
* Attention to detail and ability to organize and prioritize work required.

Desirable Qualifications:

* Prior electronic resources and/or serials maintenance experience desirable.
* Basic understanding of serials acquisitions and cataloging procedures in academic libraries highly desirable.
