TechSoup has partnered with Flickr to offer Flickr pro accounts to qualifying non-profits as well as Canadian libraries. What this means for Vermont libraries is nearly-free (small TechSoup admin cost) photo sharing and hosting for libraries and/or their patrons and friends.Flickr can be used to make dealing with images simpler and hassle free. Users can upload photos using the Flickr web site, an Uploader tool or photos can simply be emailed. Once photos are online, they can be tagged and grouped for easy dsorting and recall. They are also resized into several convenient sizes where they can then be embedded into websites — library or non-library. I find this tool personally quite easy to use and would be more than happy to show libraries how they can use it to get more digital images online.
