Information Literacy Librarian – Mason Library/Keene State College (Keene, NH)
Tenure-track position to begin July 2010
Mason Library of Keene State College is seeking an Information Literacy Librarian to provide leadership in the coordination, expansion, and promotion of the library’s existing information literacy instruction program. Under the administrative review of the Library Dean, this librarian has primary responsibility in collaborating with library faculty for designing library instruction curriculum to enhance lesson plans, design online learning materials, and analyze and present alternative models of information literacy instruction. This position serves as liaison to the Education Department.
All library faculty participate in reference service and weekend rotation, serve as liaison to a number of disciplines, provide information literacy instruction, and monitor collection development in those areas. Mason Library faculty provides mentoring for all new faculty members. This is a tenure track entry-level faculty position and has all responsibilities associated with faculty rank and tenure. Salary at the rank of Assistant Professor will be based on Collective Bargaining Unit Agreement, and was at $55,380 minimum in fall 2008.
Qualifications Required: Master’s degree in library science from an ALA-accredited institution, with 1-3 years of library instruction/information literacy experience or comparable classroom experience. Coordination and leadership experience with instruction in an academic environment. Knowledge of learning theories and pedagogies used in higher education. Experience and practice with instructional design. Demonstrated experience or training in the creation of online tutorials. Experience or internship providing reference services in an academic environment. Experience working in a collaborative, team based environment. Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills. Demonstrated knowledge of issues, trends and technologies in information literacy. Desired: 5 years of library information literacy instruction experience. Participation in ACRL Immersion Program (Teacher Track and/or Program Track). Evidence of professional involvement such as LOEX or ACRL Instruction Section. Experience with Innovative Interfaces library software. Knowledge of course management systems used in higher education. Additional advanced degree. Reading knowledge of one or more foreign languages.
