The Proctor School District is looking for a dynamic individual to fill a full-time interdisciplinary position. As half-time (.5) Proctor Elementary School Media Specialist, this person would be responsible for transforming the school library into a full-service 21st century learning center that incorporates both books and contemporary technological tools including but not limited to educational research databases and presentation/video-editing software. The successful candidate will collaborate with classroom teachers and the Instructional Technology Specialist to design and implement lessons and units of instruction and assess student learning.
As half-time (.5) Proctor Jr./Sr. High School English and Reading teacher, this person would also be responsible for teaching 2 High School English classes and 1 High School reading class.
Qualifications for the position include:
- Hold or be eligible to hold a license as a library media specialist in Vermont
- Hold or be eligible to hold a license as a 7-12 English teacher in Vermont
- Experience and training in instructing students in reading
- Strong background in the teaching of writing and the Common Core State Standards for ELA
Experience and facility with technology applications
The Proctor School District has adopted the Professional Learning Community structure of regular, collaborative student data analysis, strategy sharing, and intervention, and is beginning implementation of a Proficiency Based Learning model.
