Interdisciplinary Teaching Position – Proctor Elementary and High School (Rutland, VT)

The Proctor School District is looking for a dynamic individual to fill a full-time interdisciplinary position.  As half-time (.5) Proctor Elementary School Media Specialist, this person would be responsible for transforming the school library into a full-service 21st century learning center that incorporates both books and contemporary technological tools including but not limited to educational research databases and presentation/video-editing software. The successful candidate will collaborate with classroom teachers and the Instructional Technology Specialist to design and implement lessons and units of instruction and assess student learning.

As half-time (.5) Proctor Jr./Sr. High School English and Reading teacher, this person would also be responsible for teaching 2 High School English classes and 1 High School reading class.

Qualifications for the position include:

  • Hold or be eligible to hold a license as a library media specialist in Vermont
  • Hold or be eligible to hold a license as a 7-12 English teacher in Vermont
  • Experience and training in instructing students in reading
  • Strong background in the teaching of writing and the Common Core State Standards for ELA

Experience and facility with technology applications
