Librarian - Coordinator of Public Services - Norwich University (Northfield, VT)

Description:

Norwich University’s Kreitzberg Library invites applications for the position of Coordinator of Public Services. This individual will lead the development, delivery and assessment of all public service activity, including: reference, information literacy, interlibrary loan, government documents and circulation. This position reports to the Library Director, serves on the library management team, and supervises a department of one library faculty and five staff. The successful candidate will provide leadership for a team of seven library faculty engaged in instructional services, and as liaison to several academic departments, will participate in collection development.

Required Qualifications:

Master’s degree from an ALA-accredited program; minimum of 4 years professional experience in an academic library; evidence of success in the development, delivery and assessment of information literacy instruction; substantive experience with electronic resources, reference materials, and user services; evidence of success in leadership and personnel supervision; excellent interpersonal, instructional and communication skills; demonstrated service to the profession.

Salary and Compensation:

The starting salary is no less than $48,000, commensurate with qualifications and experience. This is a faculty rank, non-tenure track appointment. Library faculty receive excellent support for professional activity, development, travel and training. Norwich University enrolls a civilian and military student body of more than 3,800 FTEs in undergraduate, professional and graduate programs. Ten of the graduate programs are offered exclusively in an online environment. The library is a beautifully designed, fifteen year old facility with six floors. It contains more than 140,000 volumes and receives nearly 30,000 periodical titles in print or electronic formats.

Northfield, a New England village with population of 5,800, was founded in 1781, and is ten miles south of Montpelier, the Vermont state capital. It is 150 miles north of Boston and 100 miles south of Montreal.
