The Trustees of the Haskell Free Library, Inc. in Derby Line, VT and Stanstead, Quebec seek an energetic, creative, and self-motivated individual for position of Librarian.

Qualifications: At least five years experience in a public library, with Vermont Certificate of Public Librarianship or ability to obtain Certificate within five years. Bachelor’s degree or Masters in Library Sciences degree preferred.

Excellent supervisory, team-building and leadership abilities are required in this position, as are strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. A thorough understanding of the principles and practices of public library administration is needed. Ability to understand finances and work within established budget is necessary. Ability to speak and write in French as well as English is a plus.

Duties: The Librarian will manage and coordinate all aspects of library operations. Librarian will be responsible for youth and adult collections and programming, supervision and training of staff and volunteers, development of Friends of the Library, public relations, and promotion of library services and mission to the surrounding communities. Librarian also works with the board in the areas of strategic planning and fundraising, which includes grant-writing. Above is not inclusive of all Librarian responsibilities.
