Library Director - Vermont Technical College/Hartness Library System (Randolph, VT)

Location:
VTC Randolph Center Campus

Compensation:
Within the VSC UP Grade 14 salary range plus VSC UP benefits package

Responsibilities:
To direct, manage and coordinate all functions related to the college library and the integrated library automation system and to represent library interests on campus and within the VSC. This position is shared by Vermont Technical College and CCV and as a result, serves the student needs of two colleges.

  • Plan, implement, administer, coordinate, monitor and evaluate the various functions and services of the library, including: formulating long-range and short-term objectives for the library and the VSC library automation project, overseeing reference and public services, technical services including acquisition, cataloging and processing of materials, serials, microfilm and media collections.
  • Prepare and administer the library budget.
  • Exercise full supervisory authority over library staff. Plan and conduct staff training programs. Confer regularly with staff to plan, coordinate and review activities, resolve problems, assist with difficult tasks, and the like.
  • Coordinate collection development and maintenance.
  • Oversee library public relations and represent the library on new developments in library methodology and management.
  • Plan for library facilities and space management.
  • Coordinate interlibrary loan activity, policies, and planning for VSC system including consultation with Chancellor’s Office.

Qualifications:
Master’s degree in library science plus 2-4 years of relevant professional experience, including library planning and management, or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquired.
