The Kellogg Hubbard Library is the second most active library in Vermont, serving a population of about 18,000 including the city of Montpelier and five surrounding towns. There are 15 full and part-time staff positions.

Responsibilities

The Library Director is the key leader in maintaining the Kellogg-Hubbard’s tradition of outstanding public service and innovative program offerings. The Library Director ensures the overall smooth operation of library services to the public including management of library collections. Supervises twelve full and part-time staff. Participates in the planning and budget process with the Executive Director, Library Board, and committees.

The Library Director works closely with the Executive Director (who is separately responsible for fundraising, financial management and planning) to promote library services to the communities it serves. Works directly with town agencies, state organizations and community groups on library funding and cooperation. Both the Executive Director and Library Director report directly to the Library Board of Trustees.

Qualifications

M.L.S. from an accredited university program, with 5 or more years of public library management experience. Applicants should be energetic leaders with a strong commitment to public service. The successful candidate will be an excellent communicator with strong written, inter-personal and verbal communication skills. Applicants should be familiar with current library and information technology.

Compensation

This is a full-time salaried position with benefits. Salary range starts at $50,000 or higher, depending upon qualifications and experience.
