Library Director- West Hartford Library (Hartford, VT)
The Librarian is responsible for the administration, supervision and coordination of all activities and services of the library, and for carrying out the policies adopted by the Library Board of Trustees. The Librarian acts as the library spokesperson, promoting the use of the library by all members of the community and fostering good working relationships with co-workers, organizations and town government.
Supervision
The Librarian is appointed by and responsible to the Board of Trustees.
Major Responsibilities and Duties include:
Service to the community, support and execution of library policy, spending budgeted funds, supervising and training staff and volunteers, formal reporting of library activities to the Board of Trustees, the town, and the State of Vermont. Creating and executing library programs for the public from children’s book talks to adult venues. Full details of duties are available upon request. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
A Bachelor’s Degree is acceptable if willing to earn certification as a public librarian within 5 years. Proficiency with computers, software, and the internet are necessary. Imagination, a creative approach to problem-solving and a sincere interest in people are essential. Self-motivation, an ability to follow through with goals while completing a diversified job description in a timely manner is also essential.
