Programming, Public Relations & Outreach Coordinator – Howe Library (Hanover, NH)
Awarded honorable mention in 2007 for “Best Small Library in America” by Library Journal and the Bill & Melinda Gates foundation, Howe Library in Hanover, NH is seeking an energetic professional for this full-time position. Howe Library is a leading library in the Upper Valley area, serving the 11,000 citizens of Hanover, which includes Dartmouth College students, as well as residents from many surrounding New Hampshire and Vermont communities. This busy library circulates more than 300,000 items per year, is open seven days per week, and is well supported by the Town of Hanover and the 501(c)3 Howe Library Corporation.
Deadline for applications is Friday, August 13 at 4:30 pm. Interviews begin September 2. Anticipated start date is as soon as possible.
MAJOR DUTIES
- Coordinates public relations activities such as newsletters, brochures, posters, advertisements, and is a member of the library’s Public Relations Committee.
- Organizes special events or activities such as lectures, discussion groups, open houses, displays, and exhibits, both within and beyond the library.
- Coordinates library outreach efforts such as library card registrations, collaborations with area schools and libraries, and library programs beyond the library’s walls.
- Works on the reference desk on a regularly scheduled basis.
- Selects and develops sections of the adult collection.
- Oversees volunteer program.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- A Master of Library Science degree from an ALA accredited university.
- Relevant library experience essential.
Starting salary for this full-time position is $42,242 ($23.21 per hour / 35-hour work week) and includes a good benefits package.
Must be able to work one to two evenings per week and every third Saturday.
