Union Institute & University, a national university for adult learners offering programs of study leading to Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctoral degrees is seeking a Reference Librarian at our Vermont College in Montpelier, VT. The Reference Librarian is responsible for providing reference and research instruction services to the UI&U community, conducting group and individual library instruction, sharing in general library public services responsibilities, and developing library research/reference collections, services, and web pages.

This position will also serve as UI&U’s library representative to its Brattleboro Center. The Reference Librarian provides on site research instruction and reference services in support of all academic residencies.

The candidate must have a Master’s degree from an ALA accredited library school as well as excellent research, teaching, presentation, and communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and excellent information technology skills, including a strong familiarity with current information technology software, instructional Web applications, online database searching skills, and design of instructional support materials are also required. Previous experience in the provision of library research and reference services in a college or university setting a plus.
