Call for grant applications from Vermont Town Libraries
Since the year 2000, Ashgate Publishing Company in Burlington has devoted a large portion of its annual charitable contributions budget to support libraries around the state.
In the wake of the devastation wreaked by Hurricane Irene, and in recognition of our role as a corporate citizen in this state, Ashgate UK made a special donation in late 2011 in support of Vermont and Vermonters: $2,500 for the Vermont Public Libraries Foundation and $1,000 to the Librarians Relief Fund.
Through its library donations program, Ashgate makes grants to public libraries in Vermont for special one-time projects and needs (as opposed to standard operating expenses and book budgets) as they arise. The charitable donations committee encourages libraries to apply for grants that supplement other fundraising efforts. Libraries are also encouraged to team up with other area libraries and apply for grants collectively. Examples of the grants made in recent years include:

The Department of Libraries mailed forms for the 2012 Resource Sharing Grants to eligible libraries in an April 23 mailing.
This is a reminder that libraries must return the signed 2012 Grant Agreement form and 2011 Resource Sharing Grant Report form by May 14, 2012.
We want to make sure that all eligible libraries receive grant funds, so please return those forms by the postmark deadline of May 14. These grants are made possible with federal LSTA funds from the Institute of Museum and Library Services, and this paperwork is required to meet federal grant guidelines.
If you have questions, please contact Renee Ancel at: 802-828-3266 / renee.ancel@state.vt.us

By now most of you will have received the flyer for this year’s DCF conference to be held on Friday, May 4 at the Stoweflake Resort in Stowe, VT. Hope that you’re excited about our great speakers, Jon Scieszka and Raina Telgemeier, and workshops. This year, for the first time, the Friends of DCF are giving 6 scholarships to people who would not otherwise be able to go! We know that budgets are tight and many cannot attend because of the cost, so this will allow 6 more of you to be there. Deadline to apply for a scholarship is: February 24.
For links to both the Conference brochure and the scholarship application, go to: http://libraries.vermont.gov/libraries/cbec/dcf/dcfconference
