The Directors of the Bennington Free Library are seeking a creative and collaborative Director to sustain the library’s role in the community. In consultation with a 15 member Board of Directors, the Library Director is responsible for the management of all library services and resources, including a staff of 21 employees (both full-time and part-time) and a FY08 budget of about $465,000. The New Director will work collaboratively with the Board of Directors, a capable and enthusiastic staff, Friends of the Library, and active community volunteers to ensure ongoing high-quality services, institutional development, and responsiveness to growing community needs.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Under the direction of the assistant library director:
• Provides in-person and online reference services to the CCV/VTC college community;
• Assists with the development and implementation of CCV’s information literacy instruction program by teaching IL sessions (mostly online), consulting with faculty on the integration of information literacy in classes, and developing support materials;
• Supports faculty, students and site staff through training, materials and proactive communication;
• Provides collection development, technology development support, and performs other library and college duties as needed; and
• Participates in scholarly activities to represent the College in local and national college communities.
