Cataloging and Metadata Specialist I – Dartmouth College Library (Hanover, NH)

Dartmouth College Library seeks a Cataloging and Metadata Specialist I to work as part of a team to provide access to scholarly materials in the Dartmouth College Library. The Specialist is responsible for creating descriptions of new library materials for the Dartmouth College Library Catalog and other databases that provide information about the Library’s collections.  The successful candidate will learn to interpret and apply detailed library cataloging standards to describe the Dartmouth College Library collection to the scholarly community.

Library Director – Grafton Community Library (Grafton, NY)

Grafton Community Library, a small rural free association library located in eastern Rensselaer County, seeks an energetic, creative individual for the position of Library Director. This is a part-time position that will be scheduled to work 22 hours per week, including some Saturdays. The position requires a candidate with excellent communication, interpersonal, and computer skills. Experience in library collection and program development, staff and volunteer supervision, and facility management is also highly desirable. Fund-raising and grant writing skills will be considered a plus. Preference will be given to the candidate with a degree in library science or a related field, but individuals with relevant experience in lieu of a degree will be considered. Starting salary is $18,000.

Research Center Librarian – Henry Sheldon Museum of Vermont History (Middlebury, VT)

Immediate opening: part-time Research Center Librarian at the Henry Sheldon Museum of Vermont History. Successful candidate must have education background in history and archival experience, strong administrative, organizational, and communications skills. Research Center Librarian will manage and oversee all activities of the Museum’s Research Center while encouraging the community to use the Research Center’s rich resources. Duties include archival management, reference and research assistance, educational outreach, programming, exhibits, publication projects, and supervision of volunteers. Familiarity with current digitization standards and practices and MARC cataloging desirable. The Research Center Librarian is expected to work imaginatively with staff to bring professionalism and innovation to a small but dynamic cultural institution. The Pettee Memorial Library is accepting applications for the position of librarian to start in December. This person will oversee the administrative,  supervisory and professional work in planning and delivering library services with the assistant librarian and children’s librarian.
