Technical Service Librarian – Dorothy Alling Memorial Library (Williston, VT)

Qualifications: Full posting available here. Hours include one evening per week and one Saturday per month. A Bachelor’s degree with an MLS from an ALA accredited school or a Vermont Department of Libraries Certification, or actively working toward one preferred; a thorough knowledge of library cataloging and procedures including library automation and MARC databases, previous library experience preferred but not required; excellent organizational skills and the ability to perform detailed work; good communication skills and good interpersonal skills with people of all ages required.

Duties: Assisting patrons with circulation and reference before other duties; Responsibilities for all technical processing including cataloging and processing all new, donated and withdrawn materials; Acquiring and maintaining MARC records in the online database; Updating status statement on computer for all material needing mending; Coordinating bi-weekly library column in local paper and twice-monthly e-newsletter; Ordering supplies; Recording, typing and distributing staff meeting minutes; Assisting with inventory, weeding, and organization of library collection; Processing inter-library loan request in the absence of the ILL staff person; Assisting with IT, reference and services to patrons; Assuming additional duties as required.

Salary: Starting $18.40 to $22.00 per hour. 25 hours per week. Benefits include paid holidays, vacation, sick and personal time, retirement plan, and eligibility to apply for continuing education reimbursement.
