CAYAL Meeting April 17th

Hello Youth Librarians,

For those of you not yet initiated into the cozy inner circle of our CAYAL distribution list family  (just ask), Jill Coffrin and I invite you to scenic Colchester for our spring CAYAL MEETING, to be held Thursday, April 17th, from 2-4 PM at the Colchester Meeting House adjacent to the Burnham Memorial Library.

We will discuss a variety of topics, to include summer reading program successes and ideas  (we invite you to bring samples of flyers, posters, any materials lists and other relevant accessories from past summer reading programs to share with your colleagues), the upcoming Vermont Library Conference and anything else that is on your mind.

Why do this?  We are a branch of the Vermont Library Association, and while we see one another at workshops and the like, we need to get together informally as well;  this is often where great ideas originate and problems are solved…not to mention where new leaderhsip emerges  (hint, hint).   And all of that aside, scintillating conversation and lovely refreshments should be adequate incentive to lure you to this meeting.  Please do consider coming.  RSVP to Jill Coffrin, jill@williston.lib.vt.us, or myself, Gizelle Guyette, gguyette@burnham.lib.vt.us.

Thank you, and we hope to see you there.

Gizelle

Are you interested in joining the CAYAL distribution list in order to receive news and VLA updates?  Please contact me, Gizelle, at the above e-mail address.  The library’s address is as follows:

Burnham Memorial Library, 898 Main Street, Route 2A, Colchester, VT  05446;  tel.:  878-0313 (Youth Dept);  ext 109 (Gizelle)

Directions to the Burnham Memorial Library (yes, I know that they are the “kind of directions a woman would give”, but let’s work with what we have):

From I-89, take Exit 16 into Colchester.  Stay on Rte 7 all the way through Colchester until you get to the intersection of Rte 7 and Rte 2A . (Note to “landmark seekers”:  After turning at Exit 16 you will pass Shaw’s on your left, the entrances to Costco on your right;  you will travel through a hollow and come to a four-way intersection where Route 7 divides Blakely and Severance Roads.  Keep straight on Route 7–DO NOT turn.)  Travel stright for another couple of miles.

When you get to a “Y” intersection in Colchester Village, just after a blinking light, TURN  by the gas station onto Rte 2 A, which is also Main Street.  You will pass by Claussen’s Greenhouse, Union Memorial Elementary School,  and an ice cream and coffee shop, to name a few landmarks.  Keep going–your destination is at the end of the street.

When you see the lone traffic light on Main Street, your turn is approaching.  The Burnham Library, a small red brick building, sign in front, shares a green and a driveway/parking lots with the United Church (red brick) and the white clapboard Colchester Meeting House.
