The Abbott Library is looking for an enthusiastic, dynamic and friendly individual to complete our hard-working team! Tech-savviness is a must, sense of humor is a tremendous plus. This is a full-time position with a generous benefits package. The Abbott Library enjoys tremendous support from its community and is a welcoming and professional environment.
In light of the current situation, we are seeking candidates that would be able to work 100% remotely for an initial period of time. General duties will include assisting patrons, shelving, registering new patrons, data entry and special projects. Additional duties will include the publication of a bi-weekly newsletter, the maintenance of the library’s website and social media presence and the implementation of curriculum from Digital Learn and other online resources to lead technology classes for our patrons. Other projects could involve assisting with the development of adult programming initiatives.
Candidates should be personable, cheerful, professional, and enjoy working with the public. Candidates must have computer skills and Internet searching skills. The ideal candidate will have experience with a variety of software suites and online tools including Microsoft Office, Canva, Mail Chimp, WordPress, Instagram, Facebook and Twitter. Library experience is a plus but we are willing to train the right candidate. Infrequent Saturdays may be required.
We are currently balancing scaled-back, occupancy-limited open hours with virtual services and contactless curbside pickup. The Abbott Library is committed to following CDC and state guidelines for safety, including social distancing whenever possible, a mandatory mask policy and frequent cleaning of high-touch surfaces. As always, employee and community safety is our first priority.
