Library Director – Heath Free Public Library (Heath, MA)

The Heath Free Town Library is seeking a resourceful, and creative Library Director to manage and guide our small community-centered library into the future with innovative programs and services.

The Director is responsible for the administration and operation of the library as well as for providing services that are responsive to the educational, cultural, historical, and recreational needs of our small rural community.  The director will work collaboratively with the three Library Trustees and library assistant, keeping all players informed and up to date. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the collection development and maintenance, the supervision of staff,  information and computer services, monthly operational and financial reporting to the Trustees, as well as maintaining the open, and friendly atmosphere that we are known for.

The position is approx. 25 hours a week with some evening and Saturday hours (library is open 14hrs/week).  The selected candidate will be expected to attend training workshops on library skills and Board of Trustees meetings.  A complete job description can be found under “news item” at:  town of heath.org.

Qualifications:
The position requires a BA or BS or ALA accredited MLS or MLIS.  If no ALA accreditation, State Certification of Librarianship from the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners or willingness to obtain said certification, and familiarity with C/W MARS and Sitka Evergreen ILS.  We also require strong communication and IT/technical skills, and a love of books and people.

Salary is in the range of $21.05-$21.68/hr., with benefits
