The Jones Memorial Library is seeking to hire a library director to plan, direct, and manage library operations and staff.

Essential Duties Include:

  • Identifying goals and implementing a plan to meet community needs;
  • Maintaining, advancing, and promoting the library’s policies, technology, collections, services, and programs;
  • Providing leadership to attract, recruit, and develop support staff and volunteers, including support staff performance reviews and scheduling;
  • Representing the library in the community and fostering partnerships with local civic organizations, schools, day cares and other interested parties;
  • Communicating and engaging with the media, community groups, Friends of the Library, and the public to inform and gather support of the library’s goals, programs and fundraising;

  • Efficiently communicating relevant library information to Library Trustees or Village officials, as needed;
  • Staying abreast of new trends and innovations in the fields of library administration and management;

Desired Knowledge and Skills:

  • Work experience in the public library sector including a working knowledge of library systems;
  • Grant writing experience;
  • Strong organizational and time management skills;
  • Initiative, independent judgment, and political insight to ensure library services complement the needs and desires of community residents;
  • Experience and proficiency with computer technology, video conferencing platforms, and the ability to learn industry specific software.

Education:

  • Minimum: High School Diploma
  • Preferred: Degree or 2-years related experience

This is a part-time position of 24-hours a week. Based on the experience of applicants the position may be split to hire both a library director and children’s librarian.

Librarian – Baldwin Memorial Library (Wells River, VT)

Our remarkable librarian of the past 30 years is retiring and the Board of Directors is seeking a creative, energetic, community-oriented, small-town-loving individual to be our new favorite librarian.

The Baldwin is a small, rural library, open 26 hours per week (M-W-F), serving many towns in the Wells River area. It is deeply engaged in and supported by its community.

The librarian’s job at the Baldwin includes the customary duties, as well as:

  • Collaborating with community groups and the local school
  • Helping the public use library materials and technology, including formal and informal training
  • Developing programs that appeal to a variety of ages and interests
  • Developing outreach and other services that extend the library’s reach into the community
  • Developing and organizing displays and exhibits
  • Overseeing lending and return from our “Library of Things” (tools and equipment for outdoor sports, gardening/homesteading, camping, public events, etc.).

The Keene Public Library is seeking a library professional with experience in managing an Integrated Library System to join our Technical Services team as a Librarian II- Library Systems Administrator!   • Thorough knowledge of library software and circulation services. Strong technical skills including advanced knowledge of Sierra and proficiency with Postgre SQL and/or MS SQL.
  • Knowledge of HTML, Drupal and the LC MARC format.
  • The ability to lead people and teams through projects and special initiatives.
