Circulation Assistant – Brandon Free Public Library (Brandon, VT)

Brandon Free Public Library, an independent, 501(C)(3) non-profit library is seeking an energetic, community oriented individual with the ability to interact both positively and creatively with patrons, staff, and in the completion of daily tasks, as well as comfort with established and emerging technology.

This is a part-time circulation position, approximately 10 hours per week, starting immediately. The rate of pay is $15.00 per hour. The position is temporary, with the hope that funds will become available to support a long term position.

The position requires flexibility in scheduling. The specific hours worked will be based on community needs and may change periodically as those needs change. Evening and weekend hours are required. The person in this position will do in-person, direct-service work in the library. This is not a remote position.

Responsibilities:

  • Circulation
  • Library Staffing: assists patrons of all ages in every aspect of using the library, including computer and device troubleshooting.
  • Other duties will include shelving, programming preparation, other projects as assigned.

  • Computer experience, which must include ability to work effectively with modern integrated library automation systems (training will be provided), MS Office Suite products (including Word, Excel, and Outlook), and Google Apps

  • Effective communication skills (written and verbal)

Library Assistant III – Hartland Public Library (Hartland, VT)

Part-time 14 hours a week, including Saturdays and one evening. (Hours may be adjusted during the Covid-19 pandemic.)

PRIMARY DUTIES

This part-time position in the Circulation department at Hartland Public Library includes one evening and every Saturday hours (hours may be adjusted during the Covid-19 pandemic).  This position performs all duties related to the circulation of library materials including providing curbside delivery and assisting customers at our self-check kiosk.  Other customer services provided by this position include answering telephone calls and emails related to account support, assisting customers to place holds and providing general information about library services.  Individuals in this position may also help with interlibrary loan, accounts payable, daily statistics, and shelve materials as needed.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Minimum of a bachelor’s degree and one year of paid library work OR five years of equivalent experience required. Experience with library computer use, including the Internet and MS Office. Experience with G-suite a plus. Must be able to learn new skills quickly and have excellent customer service skills. The successful candidate will be able to work cooperatively as a team member as well as independently. Must be able to push or pull carts; do a moderate amount of bending, squatting, lifting, stretching, and lift boxes up to 40 pounds.  Curbside delivery requires the ability to work outdoors for brief periods of time year-round.  All library staff are required to wear masks when serving customers and when they are unable to safely distance from coworkers.

Library Aide III for Technology and Outreach- Abbott Library (Sunapee, NH)

The Abbott Library is looking for an enthusiastic, dynamic and friendly individual to complete our hard-working team! Tech-savviness is a must, sense of humor is a tremendous plus. In light of the current situation, we are seeking candidates that would be able to work 100% remotely for an initial period of time. General duties will include assisting patrons, shelving, registering new patrons, data entry and special projects. Additional duties will include the publication of a bi-weekly newsletter, the maintenance of the library’s website and social media presence and the implementation of curriculum from Digital Learn and other online resources to lead technology classes for our patrons. Other projects could involve assisting with the development of adult programming initiatives.

Candidates should be personable, cheerful, professional, and enjoy working with the public. Candidates must have computer skills and Internet searching skills. The ideal candidate will have experience with a variety of software suites and online tools including Microsoft Office, Canva, Mail Chimp, WordPress, Instagram, Facebook and Twitter. Library experience is a plus but we are willing to train the right candidate. Infrequent Saturdays may be required.

We are currently balancing scaled-back, occupancy-limited open hours with virtual services and contactless curbside pickup. Library Director – Cutler Memorial Library (Plainfield, VT)

Cutler Memorial Library seeks a Library Director to manage the daily operations of the library and create and implement library services and collections that meet the changing needs of town residents. The Library Director will maintain appropriate information technology, prepare and maintain the library’s annual budget, supervise staff and volunteers, and work collaboratively with the Board of Trustees and the Friends of the Library to raise funds and represent the library in the local community.

The Library Director sets the tone and direction for all library programming and operations with an open, inclusive, and collaborative spirit. Temporary Part-time Librarian – Bent Northrop Memorial Library (Fairfield, VT)
